Youth slits throat of minor girl after failed rape bid

Balasore: The security of the girls and women in Odisha has again come under scanner after a youth allegedly slit the throat of a minor girl with a blade following a failed rape bid. The shocking incident was reported from Hashimpur area in Baliapal block of Balasore district on Friday.

On the pretext of marrying, the accused youth approached the minor girl and tried to rape her. Later, the youth attacked the girl's throat after she resisted him.

Following the incident, the girl was rescued by some locals who then admitted her to Baliapal CHC in a critical condition. The accused youth is absconding after the incident.

“The girl came and sought help when we were talking near the road. As per the girl, a youth attacked her with sharp weapon. Without wasting time, we immediately shifted her to hospital,” said a rescuer.

Meanwhile, police have initiated probe to nab the accused youth involved in the incident.
