Youth found hanging in Jajpur; murder suspected

Jajpur: Body of a youth was found hanging inside a room in Berunupur village under Korei Police Limits of Jajpur yesterday. The deceased has been identified as Ranjan Parida. However, it is alleged that Ranjan was murdered by his father and two other siblings. Such allegations have been levelled by the wife and the elder brother of the deceased.

"They killed him yesterday night and attempted to pass it off as a suicide," elder brother of Ranjan, Muralidhar Parida said.

On the other hand, Ranjan's father has refuted the allegations and said that his deceased son used to fight with other family members in inebriated state.

"How can I kill my own son? Earlier he had an altercation with family members in an inebriated state, but somehow we had controlled him," Ranjan's father, Nabaghana Parida said.

After Ranjan's wife lodged a complaint at the police station, cops have launched an investigation.

"We reached the spot after getting information about the alleged suicide. We are waiting for the post mortem report to take further action," ASI of Korei Police Station, Salil Kumar Mallick said.
