Youth found dead inside abandoned well, murder suspected

Berhampur: Palpable tension prevailed at Gochhamil under Sorada police limits of Ganjam district after body of a youth was recovered from an abandoned well under mysterious circumstance today. The deceased has been identified as Benudhar Mallick of Balapanka village.

Although the exact reason behind death is yet to be ascertained, it is suspected that the youth was murdered and then his body was disposed in the well.

The matter came to light after some locals spotted a dead body lying inside the well today morning and informed the police.

On receiving information Sorada police reached the spot, recovered the body and sent it for most mortem.

According to sources, Mallick left his home and went to a nearby shop for snacking last evening where he had a scuffle with some miscreants. When he did not return, his family members searched for him and later filed a missing complaint.

Family members of Mallick alleged that Mallick was killed and his body was thrown in the well later.

Basing on the complaint police initiated an investigation and further probe into the incident is on.
