Woman killed, three others of family injured in attack

Bargarh: A woman was killed and three other members of a family sustained critical injuries after four unidentified miscreants attacked them at Bairakhapali village in the town late last night.

As per reports, while family members of one, Khirondra Meher of the village was fast asleep at their house, four bike-borne miscreants suddenly attacked the family and then fled the spot leaving behind the motorcycle and a shawl.

Local residents who heard the screams of the family members rushed to the spot and immediately admitted the injured to the hospital.

However, Khirondra’s wife succumbed to the injuries on the way to Bijepur hospital whereas the three others admitted to the hospital in critical condition are under treatment.

After receiving information, police along with the scientific team reached the spot and begun probe into the incident.

"The exact reason behind the attack will come to fore after an investigation into the incident. We are sure to nab the attackers involved in the incident," said a police official.
