Woman Found Dead Inside Locked House In Sambalpur

Sambalpur: Mystery clouds the demise of a woman whose decomposed body was recovered by police today from a locked house in Modipada area under Town Police limits here.

According to sources, three persons of a family including a couple and their son were staying in the rented house. Following reports of foul smell emanating from the house on Thursday, police rushed to the spot and detained the owner of the house for interrogation.

Today morning, a team of police once again reached the spot and broke open the door only to find the body of the woman lying under mysterious circumstances. The body was recovered in presence of Magistrate. A forensic team was also called to the spot for investigation.

On the other hand, Police said that the woman's husband and son are absconding. "The woman bore several injury marks on her body. Prima facie investigation and the in-house circumstances suggest that the woman has been murdered. A detailed investigation has been initiated. We have also launched a manhunt to trace the male members of the house who are currently absconding. As the house owner was clueless about their identities, probe is on to ascertain that. At present the scientific team has been pressed into action and the body sent for post mortem," said a senior police official.
