Viral Video: ‘Love birds’ tonsured & harassed by Kangaroo Court in Odisha

Mayurbhanj: In yet another instance of mob fury, a youth and a lady, who were reportedly in a love affair, were harassed and shamed in public at Karanjia of Mayurbhanj district.

As per reports, local villagers allegedly tonsured the couple on June 22 and later uploaded the video on social media.

Sources said that a youth of Karanjia NAC was in love with a girl of Mandua village. On June 22, a group of people at Mandua village caught the youth when he had reportedly visited the village to meet the girl.

Later, the villagers tortured the couple and recorded the act of tonsuring their heads.

On getting information, a team of police rushed to the village and rescued the love birds. Based on the complaint filed by the girl, Karanjia Police have registered a case against 21 persons.

“The incident occurred on June 22 and the girl had lodged a complaint yesterday. Already a case has been registered and necessary action will be taken in connection with the incident,” said Karanjia SDPO, Narayan Nayak.

Meanwhile, the cops today arrested three persons in connection with the incident.
