Jajpur: Cracking its whip on smuggling of minor minerals, Jajpur Police detained seven trucks allegedly engaged in illegal transportation of stone chips at Vyasanagar area. According to reports, the vehicles were detained during patrolling on Sunday night.

Police sources said, as the concerned truck drivers could not produce any relevant documents regarding loading and transportation of stone chips, the vehicles were seized.

Following the incident, police officials brought the issue of illegal transportation of stone chips to the notice of the Regional Transport Office (RTO) and Tehsildar for further action.

“As per the instructions of Superintendent of Police, we had launched a vehicle-checking drive and during inspection intercepted the trucks and alerted the Tehsildar and RTO. Once the investigation is complete, appropriate action will be taken by the concerned officials,” said Assistant Sub-Inspector of Jajpur Road Police Station, Manoranjan Samal.
