Three arrested in Sitapur murder case, says Gajapati SP
Gajapati:The district police on Sunday nabbed three persons in connection with the murder of one Chipur Sanjeev of Bhupatilaxmipur village in the district on July 16.
The main accused Venugopal and his two brother-in-laws were arrested from Hyderabad whereas another person involved in the case is still absconding, informed Amulya Kumar Das, Gajapati SP in a presser.
On the fateful day, Sanjeev who was on his way to the court to attend hearing of a case along with his wife on his motorbike was intercepted by some men and hacked to death.
Explaining the modus operandi, Das said, “One of the accused stopped Sanjeev midway while he was on his way to Sitapur from Paralakhemundi and requested for some petrol. In the meantime another accused threw chilli powder into his eyes and hit his head with a stick. When Sanjeev fell off the motorcycle, he was attacked with a sharp weapon killing him on the spot,”
The sword, stick and chilli powder filled bag were seized from possession of the accused, informed Das adding that love outside marriage and adultery was reason behind the murder.
