Berhampur: Police have arrested three highway robbers for attacking Golanthara Police Station IIC's (Inspector-in-charge) vehicle. The arrested persons have been identified as Rabi Narayan Padhi, Sananad Kumar Padhi and Runa Kumar Sahu.

The incident took place on March 1, when Golanthara IIC, while on his way to Berhampur, spotted five miscreants demanding money from commuters by detaining cars and trucks on the NH near Konisi. However, after the police official questioned the miscreants, they attacked him and his vehicle.

Later, Gosaninuagaon Police reached the spot and arrested three miscreants while the other two managed to give the cops a slip. Police seized a car, scooter along with Rs 4000 cash and a sharp weapon from their possession, added sources.

"We have registered a case against the accused and have intensified patrolling to nab the other two miscreants," said Sadar Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO), Jayant Kumar Mahapatra.
