Teacher accused of molesting woman in Jajpur

Jajpur: A teacher of a government-run school has been accused of outraging the modesty of a woman in Jajpur district of Odisha.

As per the FIR, the accused was inebriated at the time of the incident and he works as an assistant teacher in a government-run school.

The incident happened at Patapur village under Mangalpur police limits on Monday night when the woman was alone at home, police said.

A case has been registered against the accused under sections 354A (physical contact and advances involving unwelcome and explicit sexual overtures) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the IPC, the Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) of Jajpur, P K Mallha said.

"Based on the woman's compliant, we rushed to the spot and started an investigation. The accused teacher fled before a police team could reach his residence," the SDPO added.
