Cuttack: A youth died after being shot at by unidentified miscreants near Godisahi under Barang police limits today. The deceased has been identified as Sunil Ranjan Sahu who was working as a supervisor at Sri Sri University.

Though the exact reason behind the murder is still unclear, it could be the fall out of some past rivalry, informed Cuttack DCP Akhilesvar Singh after preliminary investigation.

Sources said, two bike-borne miscreants fired three rounds at Sahu when he had gone to meet someone after getting a call in the morning today. Sahu sustained bullet injuries in head, chest and hand, police said.

Police suspect the involvement of some 'known persons' behind the murder as a scuffle broke out between them and Sahu over some issues which some people have also corroborated.

Following the incident, Sahu was rushed to SCB Medical College and Hospital and was subsequently declared brought dead by doctors, sources said.

Sahu had sustained bullet injuries on head, chest and hand and was shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in a critical condition.

As per preliminary reports, two unidentified miscreants intercepted the youth and fired three rounds of bullets at him.
