Spurned lover held for attacking girlfriend’s mother

Balasore: Bhograi Police arrested a youth for allegedly attacking a woman at Shyamanandipur area. The accused, identified as Sania Hui confessed to have committed the crime after the victim’s daughter rejected his marriage proposal, police said.

Sources said, the critically injured woman has been shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital.

Preliminary investigations revealed that Sania, who hails from Kendrapara, was working in Dubai. He was into a love relationship with the victim’s daughter.

It was learnt that Sania wanted to marry the girl whom he knew for the past couple of years. But, he became revengeful after the girl turned down his marriage proposal.

“Both the girl and her family betrayed me. The girl had promised to marry me in December,” alleged Sania.

After returning from Dubai, Sania straight went to his girlfriend’s house with an intention of killing her. But as the girl was not present in the house, Sania attacked her mother.

“It appears that there was some dispute between the youth and the girl. We have detained the youth and further investigation in this connection is on,” said Inspector-in-charge of Bhograi police station, Narendra Das.
