Shopkeeper 'Running Sex Racket' Thrashed in Odisha

Balasore: A garment shop owner was reportedly beaten black and blue on charges of running a prostitution racket at Ananda Bazar Chhak in Sahadevkhunta area of Balasore district.

As per the allegations, the shopkeeper was operating the racket from inside his shop. The incident came to light after some irate locals thrashed him over the allegations a couple of days ago. A video purportedly showing the shopkeeper being beaten by locals has gone viral on social media.

However, the shop owner refuted the allegations stating that he is not involved in any such illegal activities.

Meanwhile, no police complaint has been registered in connection with the incident so far.

On Sunday, Commissionerate Police busted a sex racket which was operating from a hotel at AIIMS Nagar under Khandagiri Police limits in Bhubaneswar.

Acting on a tip-off, a special team of the Commissionerate Police raided the hotel and arrested six persons including two middlemen and four customers. Besides, six girls, who reportedly hail from West Bengal, were rescued from the hotel.
