Ruckus over cattle theft: Four persons arrested by police
Cuttack: The Bidanasi Police arrested three persons today in connection with the assault of four youths and torching of their vehicle in Cuttack on January 27 over suspicion of cattle theft. Moreover, one among the four injured persons, who were accused of cattle theft, was also arrested after being discharged from hospital today.
Meanwhile, Cuttack DCP Akhileshwar Singh said that plans are being made to arrest the mastermind behind the cattle theft. “Four persons belonging to Mayurbhanj area were trying to steal cattle from Bidanasi in Cuttack when the owner woke up and raised an alarm. Locals of the area reached the spot and thrashed the youths and torched their vehicle,” Singh said.
“Cases have been registered against the locals as well as the youths involved in the theft. One the injured youths who was discharged from hospital today was arrested. Among the 10 locals who were accused for thrashing the youths, three have been arrested and forwarded to court. The rest seven persons will be arrested soon,” Singh added.
Earlier, four youths sustained critical injuries on the night of January 27 after they were beaten up by locals in Bidanasi area of Cuttack on suspicion of stealing cattle.
