Rs 45 lakh looted at gun point from bank in Rourkela

Rourkela: In a daring daylight dacoity, as many as eight armed men stormed into a bank in Rourkela and allegedly looted Rs 45 lakh at gunpoint on Tuesday.

The incident took place today at the Indian Overseas Bank’s Bazar branch as soon as the bank opened. Around 7 to 8 miscreants entered the bank and started thrashing the bank employees before decamping with the cash.

The identities of the looters have not been ascertained yet as they had worn helmets. However, they are suspected to be a dacoit gang from the neighbouring Jharkhand state, said a police official.

All the routes to the city have been sealed. The miscreants will be nabbed soon, he added.
