Rape Shame continues! 12-year-old girl raped in Angul, accused held

Angul: In yet another incident of sexual assault against minor girls, a 12-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a man at Khantapasi village under Pallahara block in Angul district Thursday. The accused, identified as Guru Badra of nearby Barihamunda village, has been arrested by police.

The incident came to the fore after the survivor along with her parents lodged a complaint at the Khamar police station last evening.

As per the complaint, the minor girl had gone to a nearby forest to graze cattle when Badra, taking advantage of the situation gagged her mouth and raped her.

Later, when she returned home she narrated the ordeal to her parents, who filed a complaint at the police station.

"The accused has been apprehended and both of them have been sent for a medical examination. Action will be taken after getting the reports. Further investigation is on," informed Santosh Kumar Mirdha, Inspector-in-charge of Khamar police station.

Earlier on Wednesday, a 14-year-old girl was allegedly raped and impregnated by her paternal uncle and cousin in Pattamundai area of Kendrapara district.
