Odisha Minor Girl Raped By Neighbour In Abandoned House

Phulbani: A girl student of Class IX was allegedly raped by a married man who happens to be her neighbour in Tumudibandha police station area of Kandhamal district.

As per reports, the minor girl was with her mother in her house when accused Sambhu Maharana called her outside for some work at around 7 PM on Thursday. Subsequently, Maharana took the girl to a nearby abandoned house and allegedly raped her.

However, after hearing her screams a few locals rushed to the spot only to find her in a semi-conscious state. Though she was rescued, Maharana somehow managed to flee the spot.

Later, the girl's family members filed a complaint this morning, based on which police detained Maharana for interrogation.

Police have registered a case while further investigation in connection with the incident is underway.
