Sundergarh/Uttar Pradesh: A minor girl who was missing for the last 12 days from Lephripara area of Sundergarh district was rescued by police from Muzaffarnagar in Uttar Pradesh, informed Sundergarh SP, Soumya Mishra, in a presser on Saturday.

The Lephripara police has arrested three middlemen, including the minor girl’s relative and a couple who sold the girl to an elderly man in UP for Rs 60,000. All the accused were forwarded to the court yesterday.

A missing complaint in this regard was lodged by the family members of the minor girl on January 25 following which an investigation was launched.

Sources said the girl had gone to the house of her relative, who is yet to be identified in Sundergarh. Later, the relative had handed over the minor girl to a couple, who assured her lucrative job but instead of providing job they sold her in Uttar Pradesh.

“We rescued the girl with the help of UP police. During the counseling, the girl revealed that three persons were involved in selling her to get her married. The girl was sold for around Rs 60,000,” said Mishra.
