Odisha Crime Branch nabs ‘fake' lady teacher over bank fraud

Kendrapara: The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of the Odisha Crime Branch today arrested a woman on charges of impersonating as a teacher and availing loans from Bilahat branch of Odisha Gramya Bank by producing forged certificates. The arrested woman was identified as Annapurna Das of Patisahi under Garadpur gram panchayat in Patkura.

Back in 2013, a few people had produced documents named after Annapurna and withdrawn loans from the Bilahat branch.

Later, when the documents were found to be fake, the regional and branch managers of the bank were suspended. The case was then handed over to the Economic Offences Wing of Odisha Crime Branch.

While the EOW had already arrested four persons in connection with the case, the officials nabbed the woman from her residence today.
