Rayagada: In yet another case of child trafficking, nine minor girls were rescued by volunteers of Child Helpline with the help of Railway Protection Force (RPF) at the Rayagada railway station here on Wednesday.

According to sources, most of the girls belong to Kolnara and Ramnaguda blocks of the district and were allegedly being taken to Andhra Pradesh to work in a prawn factory.

The person who was accompanying the girls is absconding, sources added.

"The girls were waiting to board the train when we informed the RPF about them and were able to rescue all of them," said a Child Helpline officer.

The officer also informed that they will be sent back to their homes after a counseling session.
