Angul: A man died under mysterious circumstances soon after he was called to Kanhia Police Station in Angul in connection with a domestic violence complaint. The deceased has been identified as Deepak Barik of Badagunduri village in the district.

As per reports, based on a complaint lodged by Deepak’s wife, Kanhia police called both husband and wife to the police station to resolve the dispute.
However, situation turned ugly after Deepak fell sick during counselling. He was initially rushed to Kanhia hospital and later shifted to Angul hospital where he breathed his last.

Deepak’s family on the other hand alleged that he fell sick after being thrashed by the cops at the police station.

“My daughter and others who had accompanied Deepak to the police station informed that the cops had thrashed him,” alleged Deepak’s grandfather, Joginath Barik.

Senior police officials informed that basing on the complaint both parties were called to police station yesterday.

"As Dipak was in a drunken state, he started to abuse his wife inside the police station. In the meantime, he fell sick and was immediate rushed to hospital and died while undergoing treatment. We do not know why the family is bring such allegations. An unnatural death case has been registered in connection with the incident," said SDPO Jaswant Samal.
