Kalahandi: Fire services department today recovered bodies of a woman and her granddaughter who had been missing for the past 24 hours in Khamarapadara village under Thuamul Rampur block of the district.

According to sources, Saba Dei Majhi along with her 19-year-old granddaughter, Umara Dei had gone to the nearby forest to collect forest products and vegetables and did not return on Friday.

Worried, the villagers conducted a search in the area but could not locate the duo.

Earlier today, local people found their tiffin boxes, hoe and an umbrella that the duo had carried while leaving for forest, near the village pond.

Soon, the Tehsildar informed the fire services department, who reached the spot and recovered their bodies.

‘’Since we could not locate the two women, we waited for the police to help us. After their bodies were recovered, we suspect there has been someone else’s hand in this,’’ said the villagers.

The exact cause of their deaths is yet to be determined by the police.
