Bhubaneswar: After a brief lull, miscreants on Thursday looted over Rs 28 lakh in separate incidents in Odisha. In Puri, armed miscreants allegedly looted Rs 19.50 lakh from the employees of a private bank at Gopalpur under Nimapara block.

As per reports, six bike-borne miscreants looted the cash from two employees of Bandhan Bank after terrorising them at gun point. The bank employees were reportedly on their way to deposit the cash in the bank in a car when the miscreants intercepted them and robbed the cash.

Meanwhile, police have detained the driver of the vehicle and further investigation in this connection is on.

In another incident, miscreants looted Rs 9 lakh cash at gunpoint near Jamalpur on NH-16 in Balasore. The incident occurred when two persons were travelling in a four-wheeler were intercepted by the robbers, who looted the cash at gunpoint.

A live bullet has been recovered from the spot, police said adding that further probe in connection with the matter is underway.
