Baripada: In yet another bank robbery, the Odisha Gramya Bank’s Pratappur branch under Badasahi police limits in Mayurbhanj district was looted by three miscreants late last night. However, the amount of cash looted from the bank has not been ascertained yet.

As per the security guard of the panchayat office, the incident took place at around 1.30 am.

“I was sleeping in my room inside the panchayat office premises when I heard some noise. When I went outside, I found the three persons trying to break the backside window of the bank. As the miscreants saw me, they barged into my room and threatened by pointing a gun at me,” said the security guard.

“They also tied my legs and hands and gagged my mouth and later went inside the bank,” he added.

According to reports, the miscreants broke open the grille of the backside window of the bank and carried out the loot.

Meanwhile, police rushed to the spot after getting information and started investigation.

The robbers destroyed the CCTV cameras installed inside the bank and took away the hard disk. They also reportedly damaged the chest of the bank, reports added.

“After getting information from the Badasahi Inspector-in-Charge (IIC), we rushed to the spot in the morning. We found the grille of the backside window of the bank broken open. We also checked the chest inside the bank and further investigation is on,” informed scientific officer of Mayurbyhanj forensic laboratory, Chandrakanta Chan.
