Keonjhar: Armed miscreants looted Rs 15,000 and a mobile phone from a businessman after firing at him at Keonjhar on Thursday night. The victim Dilip Behera escaped with minor bullet injuries on hand and stomach.

According to reports, four bike-borne miscreants intercepted Behera near railway over bridge when he was returning home after closing his shop. The miscreants opened fire at Behera when he refused to hand over money to them.

"The miscreants had come in two motorcycles.  The looted the cash after firing at me, "said Behera.

On getting information Sadar Police reached the spot, rescued Behera and rushed him to hospital.

"We have blocked the routes and have launched a manhunt to nab the miscreants," said Prakash Jems Toppo, Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO), Sadar Police Station.

In another incident, miscreants hurled bombs on the vehicle of Sukinda Zilla Parishad member Sarojini Raj on NH-39 in the district on Thursday.

According to sources, Sarojini received minor injuries while her vehicle has been damaged in the bombing. The incident occurred when Sarojini was returning after a poll campaign at Haripur.

Meanwhile, police have initiated a probe into the matter.
