Miscreants in college uniform loot Rs 40 lakh from SBI in Balasore

Balasore: They came posing as college students and looted Rs 40 lakh within a few minutes. This sounds like a perfect plot of a bank robbery in movies but such an incident has actually taken everybody by surprise in Balasore district.

Throwing up challenge for Odisha Police, miscreants looted the cash in broad-daylight from SBI’s Srirampur branch in Balasore.

As per reports, five to six miscreants posing as college students entered the bank and looted the cash after holding a few customers at gun point.

“They took my wife as a hostage and looted the cash within a few minutes. The miscreants also snatched money from some other customers as well,” said an eye-witness.

The miscreants reportedly fled the spot after locking the bank from outside.
Following the incident, senior police officials reached the spot and recovered four live bombs from the bank premises.

Though the cops remained tight lipped about the incident, they informed that further investigation in this connection is on.

“We have received some clues from the CCTV footage.Three teams have been formed and we hope to nab the miscreants soon,” said Balasore SP B Jugal Kishore.
