Bhubaneswar: One person was injured after unidentified assailants hurled bombs on a restaurant at Bapuji Nagar here late Monday night. An employee of the restaurant injured in the incident was immediately rushed to a hospital.

According to sources, four bike-borne miscreants came near the main gate of the restaurant, threw two country-made bombs and fled the spot. The glasses of the doors and windows of the restaurants shattered under impact of the explosion.

"Just when the main gate of the restaurant was being opened, two men on bike stopped before the gate and flung the bombs towards us. The bombs landed on the floor and exploded immediately," said Sukant Das, security guard of the restaurant who was present at the spot.

"I was crossing the road when I heard a loud sound and rushed to the spot to see what had happened, "said an eyewitness.

On being informed, Police rushed to the spot and started investigation. The police officials or the restaurant's authority are yet to comment on the matter.

Earlier on Monday, unidentified miscreants hurled bombs on the vehicle of former Dhenkanal MLA Nabin Nanda near Takhurpal village under Gondia block in Dhenkanal district. Though the vehicle was extensively damaged, Nanda escaped unhurt in the incident.
