Nayagarh: Armed miscreants allegedly looted Rs 1.62 lakh after hurling bombs at an ATM cash van near Kainthapali on Khandapada-Nayagarh road today. According to sources, four bike-borne miscreants looted the cash after terrorising the occupants of the vehicle at ‘gunpoint.’

“We were carrying the cash from Narasinghpur and the money was being transported to Andhra Bank’s main branch in Nayagarh when the miscreants lobbed a crude bomb at our vehicle,” said Tapan Kar, an employee who was in the van.

Kar further informed that miscreants looted the cash after attacking the gunman and the driver. "Two miscreants also threatened to fire at me,” Kar added.

Nayagarh SDPO Srinivas Mohanty said that as per the complaint, four miscreants in two bikes were involved in the loot.

“We have already sealed the bordering areas and alerted nearby police stations. Further investigation in connection with the incident is on,” said Mohanty.
