Bhubaneswar: A group of miscreants looted cash worth Rs 35 lakh from a car near Phulnakhara square of Bhubaneswar today. The incident occurred when some employees of Indian Overseas Bank were transporting the cash to Bhubaneswar from Niali in a private car.

As per reports, five to six masked miscreants intercepted the car and looted the cash at gun point.

Apart from the driver, there were two bank staffers in the rented four-wheeler when the incident took place. Reportedly, the miscreants vandalised the car before committing the crime.

"At around 5:20 pm, I came to know about the incident and later informed the Niali bank manager. There were three persons in the car including two bank officials," said owner of the car, Jatindra Kumar Mallick.

Meanwhile, the driver of the car has been detained and further investigation is on, police said.
