Sambalpur: A headless body of a man was recovered from Tileimala village under Ainthapali police limits of the district today morning.

According to sources, one Satyanarayan Munda of the village was reportedly sleeping outside his house last night but his body with its head missing was found from the spot today morning.

Even though the there is still suspense as to whether he was murdered by miscreants for enmity or any other reason, Ainthapali police has initiated a probe into the incident. Scientific team and dog squad have been called in to conduct on spot investigation.

“My father was sleeping outside the house due to sweltering heat condition. Today morning when my mother went to wake him up to sweep the verandah, we found him dead. We are clueless about the murder as we don’t have any enmity with anyone in the village,” said Priyanka Munda, daughter of the deceased.

Brefing on the incident, Sambalpur SDPO Bhabani Sankar Udgata said, “The crime might have taken around 3-4 AM as most of the villagers were awake till late night. We are questioning some of his neighbours to ascertain whether the deceased had any rivalry with anyone in the locality. Besides, a search operation to trace the severed head is underway with the help of the villagers.”
