Miscreants attempt to gang rape woman, beat up husband & sons

Kendrapara: A group of three miscreants allegedly attempted to rape a woman after physically assaulting her husband and two sons late yesterday night in Poipata village under Pattamundai police limits of Odisha's Kendrapara district.

As per reports, the miscreants knocked at the door of the victim’s house on Friday night. When no one opened the door, they allegedly broke open the door, barged into the house and assaulted the family members.

“They sexually assaulted my wife and attempted to rape her. They thrashed me and my two minor sons with a digging bar. Both my sons have suffered fractures in their hands and legs. My right hand is also fractured,” said husband of the woman.

“We were about to sleep when an injured man came and cried for help. Subsequently, we went to his home and found his wife bleeding and children crying,” a villager said.

Later, the villagers admitted them to the District Headquarters hospital (DHH).

“The couple and their two sons were admitted around 5 AM in the morning today. While the condition of the minor boys is stable, the woman’s condition is still critical. We will be able to ascertain whether it’s a case of rape or not only after conducting the necessary medical tests,” said a doctor at the DHH, B K Dash.

Meanwhile, a police case is yet to be registered in connection with the incident.
