Minor girl raped by neighbour in Kendrapara, accused detained

Kendrapara: An eleven-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a youth at Firikdandi village in Rajnagar area under Pattamundai block of Kendrapara district on Friday.

Based on the complaint lodged by the family members, police today detained the accused youth, Somnath Nayak who happens to be the neighbour of the survivor.

According to reports, when the girl was returning home after tuition yesterday, Somanth lured her to show snake show. Subsequently, he took the girl to the backyard of the village club and raped her.

The matter came to light after the girl narrated the incident to her parents who then filed a complaint at the police station.

Basing on the FIR, police swung into action and detained the youth.

The accused is now being interrogated and appropriate action will be taken after a detailed investigation which is currently underway, police said.
