Puri: Following a series of chain snatching in the pilgrim town, police today managed to arrest a miscreant who is believed to be one of the members behind the robberies. As per reports, three miscreants were attempting to rob a woman in Mochi Sahi area of Puri when one of them was nabbed by the victim while two others managed to flee the spot.

The accused was later handed over to Sea Beach Police and an investigation has been launched. On December 14, 130 gram gold was looted from two women at SCS College road and after a few days, a gold ring and a gold chain was looted from another person in front of the Collectorate.

"They stole my gold chain and ring. I tried to get hold of them but they fled the spot," said one of the victims.

Similarly, some miscreants posing as cops looted a government employee in Badashankha area of the district.  Earlier on November 28, 2019, miscreants posing as police officials allegedly looted gold ornaments and cash from a man near Venkateshwar temple under Badabazaar Police limits in Berhampur.
