Kendrapara: A man surrendered before Patkura Police in Kendrapara district after killing his wife on Sunday. The accused has been identified as Chandan Jena of Arakhakuda village.

According to the police, Chandan confessed to have hacked his wife Babita Jena to death with a sharp weapon in a fit of rage following a family dispute.

After Chandan's claim, police launched an investigation and seized Babita's body in the presence of the District Magistrate and a scientific team. Later, the body was sent to the District Headquarters Hospital(DHH) for post-mortem.

The accused, who is being interrogated, will be forwarded to the court after a medical test later in the day, said sources. The couple had reportedly tied the knot five years ago after falling in love. Before marriage, Babita was staying with her family in Jayapur village under Mahanga Police limits of the district.
