Jagatsinghpur: A man allegedly killed his elder brother over land dispute at Jankoti Patani village under Sadar police limits in the district on Tuesday evening.
According to sources, the accused Bhramarabar Swain had an altercation with his elder brother Chakradhar Swain over some land related matter.
Bhramarabar became violent and allegedly attacked Chakradhar with a sharp weapon before fleeing the spot.
During patrolling Jagatsinghpur Police spotted Chakradhar lying on the road and immediately rushed him to District Headquarters Hospital.
Chakradhar’s health condition worsened and he was later shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack where he succumbed to his injuries today, informed sources.
After preliminary probe, police have registered a case against the accused.
“There are no family members of the deceased, so we have registered a suo moto case. Investigation is on, and efforts to nab the accused are underway,” said Jagatsinghpur IIC Rajanikant Mishra.
