Man hangs self after killing wife by slitting her throat

Berhampur: A man allegedly committed suicide after slitting his wife's throat over a suspected family feud at Bagada village in Digapahandi area of Ganjam district today. The couple was identified as Nayani Sethi and her husband Bankia Sethi.

According to a few locals, the couple was going through a rough patch since few days. When a quarrel ensued between them this morning, Bankia in a fit of rage allegedly attacked Nayani with a sharp weapon.

Critical, Nayani was being rushed to the hospital with the help of locals when she succumbed to the injuries, added sources.

Meanwhile, soon after getting information on the death of his wife, Bankia too ended his life by hanging himself from the ceiling of his house, informed sources.

Police have rushed to the spot and initiated an investigation into the incident. "The bodies have been sent for post-mortem. A probe is on to find out the exact reasons of deaths," informed a police official.
