Man Arrested For Attempting To Rape Divyang Girl

Khurda: Police arrested a man today on charges of attempting to rape a physically challenged girl on the premises of a crusher unit near Tapang Chhak under Sadar Police limits of Khurda.
Acting on the complaint lodged by the family members of the girl, a team of cops arrested the accused, Akshay Swain, a resident of Astaranga area of Puri.
According to sources, the accused attempted to rape the girl, when her mother, who works in the crusher unit as a labourer, had gone to a nearby shop.Police have launched an investigation to get more details in the case.

"Based on the complaint filed by the mother of the physically-challenged girl we have registered a case and arrested the accused. An investigation is currently underway. We are awaiting the medical test report," IIC of Khurda Sadar Police Station, Bikram Keshari Jena, said.

On July 8, a minor tribal girl was allegedly raped inside a bus in Puri late on Monday night. Kumbharpara Police had rescued the girl and later arrested the accused helper of the bus.
