Man allegedly beaten to death on suspicion of practising sorcery

Nuapada: An elderly man was allegedly beaten to death on suspicion of practising sorcery at Khairani village of the district. The body of the deceased, identified as Tularam Majhi of Khairani village, was recovered today morning.

According to sources, the mutilated body of Tularam was recovered inside a gunny bag near Chanamunda dam under Lakhana police limits in the district today after one month of his death.

Meanwhile, police have detained two accused in connection with the murder.

“He used to perform black magic. Three girls of our village, including one from my family, had died unexpectedly. Out of anger, we had killed him,” said one of the accused, Bhabasing Majhi.

“The accused duo allegedly hatched a plan and stoned Tularam to death,” said IIC of Lakhana police station, Saroj Kumar Mallick.
