Bolangir: Police claimed to have cracked the mystery behind the death of newspaper distributor Kamal Bag in Kantabanji area of Bolangir district after arresting five members of a family including a woman in this connection today. Bag was murdered over a love affair, said police.

A resident of Anand Nagar village, Bag was killed by the family members of a girl with whom he was in a relationship. The arrestees include the father of the girl Durya Suna, her mother Puspa, younger brother Gagan, uncles Raghunath and Rajan.

According to police, Bag had gone to the girl’s house on November 10 when the duo was caught by her family members. Fumed over this, the family members then beat Bag to death with wooden planks and threw his body into a well.

After a week on November 17, Bag’s decomposed body was recovered from the well located near Radhaswami Ashram.

Briefing media about the murder case, Bolangir SP Madkar Sandeep Sampat said, “During interrogation, the accused persons have confessed to the crime. The wooden planks used for the crime and slippers of the deceased have been seized.”
