Jajpur: A Jajpur based businessman abducted from Puri on Monday was today rescued by police who arrested five abductors in the case.

Police nabbed the kidnappers near Rathia area under Jaraka police limits in the district while they were escaping through NH 17 via Jajpur in a car.

The abductors had reportedly demanded a ransom of Rs 2 crore for releasing the Sorai village based businessman, Sribas Jena.

"I thank Jajpur and Puri police officials for saving my life," said Jena.

"By forming a team with the entire police fodce of Jajpur, we raided several places and rescued Jena and handed him over to Puri police," said Jajpur DSP Nagen Kumar Nayak.

Investigation into the case is on to ascertain the reason behind the abduction, said a police official.
