Kalahandi: Police on Tuesday cracked the mystery behind the deaths of a woman and her two children whose bodies were recovered from two different locations at Singhjharan village in Bhawanipatna yesterday.

Kalahandi SP, B. Gangadhar informed that the deceased woman Bimala was killed by her husband Linga Majhi as the former turned down his proposal of reunion.

As per reports, Linga had eloped with another woman leaving behind Bimala and two kids.

“Linga wanted to reunite with the family but was opposed by Bimala. Fearing public disgrace, Linga killed Bimala by strangulating her with a saree. Later, he dumped her body at the railway tracks to give it a shape of suicide. He then returned home and slit the neck of his two children,” said Gangadhar.

Bimala’s body was found on the railway tracks nearby her village while the blood soaked bodies of her two children were recovered from their house yesterday.

Meanwhile, the local villagers have demanded a detailed investigation as they suspect involvement of more persons in the triple murder.

“Based on post mortem report and confessional statement, we have arrested the husband of the deceased woman. So far we have not got any evidence regarding the involvement of other persons. However, further investigation is underway,” Gangadhar added.
