Balasore: A comedian of a jatra troupe was allegedly killed in Bhogarai area in Balasore district late last night. Family members of the deceased, identified as Trilochana Ranjit of Kati Sahi under Baliapal police limits, have lodged a police complaint alleging that the actor was murdered and his body was dumped in Bhogarai market.

As per the complaint, Ranjit who was working as a comedy actor with 'Subhalaxmi Jatra Party' had gone to Bhogarai for a rehearsal last night. However, he did not return home following which family members undertook a frantic search. Ranjit's body was later found reportedly behind a shop in the Bhogarai market this morning.

On basis of the complaint filed by family members of the actor, police have launched a probe after sending the body for post mortem. A sharp weapon has also been seized from the spot, where the actor's body was recovered.

Bhogarai Police Station Inspector In-Charge, Narendra Das said an argument ensued between Ranjit and one Rajendra Tolai alias Tutu at the market. Later in a fit of rage Tutu attacked Ranjit.

"Ranjit was in Bhogarai to attend the rehearsal of the jatra party last night. While he had gone to the local market, there was an argument between him and Tutu following which the actor was attacked leading to his death. A case has been registered in this regard and further investigation is on," added Das.
