Jagatsingpur: Vigilance sleuths on Friday raided houses and office of Jagatsingpur Rural Water Supply and Sanitation (RWS&S) Executive Engineer Saroj Satapathy for allegedly amassing assets disproportionate to his known source of income.

The officials conducted the raid simultaneously at eight places, including Cuttack, Bhubaneswar, and his office and government quarter in Jagatsingpur.

Satapathy’s parental houses at Naraharipur and Hazaribagichha village in Kendrapara district were also searched.

During the raid, total movable and immovable assets amounting to Rs 1,00,09,281 were detected in the name of Satapathy and his family members, official sources said.

While the cost of his flat at Goutam Nagar was valued at Rs 20 lakh the cost of another single-storied building at Prachi Vihar near Palasuni in Bhubaneswar was estimated to be at Rs 15 lakh.

Further, Satapathy’s building at CDA in Cuttack was estimated at Rs 17,05,000 and another one at Hazaribagichha in Kendrapara was calculated to be Rs 7,13,000, while the vigilance sleuths calculated the amount of the plots at Kendrapara at Rs 10,50,000.

Bank deposits of Rs 2,46,016, gold ornaments worth Rs 5,00,000, household hold articles worth Rs 10,00,000 and LIC deposits worth 5,00,000 were also traced, an official said.
