Balasore: After yesterday's ghastly incident in Chalipada village under Nilagiri Police limits of Balasore district where a woman, who was set afire by her husband and in-laws was rescued while running for life by passersby, police today arrested two persons in connection with the case. The accused husband and father-in-law of the victim have been arrested by police, informed sources.

Sriballav Sahu, IIC, Khantapada police station said "Acting on a tip off about the hideout of the accused husband and father-in-law, we conducted raids and nabbed both of them while they were trying to flee."

‘However, the sister-in-law and mother-in-law of the woman are yet to be traced and we hope to nab them soon,’ said Sahu.

The newly-wed woman was rescued by 2 passersby while running for life after being allegedly set afire by her in-laws over dowry. She was admitted to Nilagiri hospital in critical condition.

Sources said the in-laws of the victim had asked for a gold chain from her parents 3 months back. After their demand was not fulfilled, the woman’s husband, father-in-law and mother-in-law allegedly poured kerosene and set her on fire.
