Jeypore: In a major breakthrough, the Koraput police on Tuesday arrested five persons in connection with a suspected case of 'honour killing'.

A couple, identified as Parsuram Muduli and Dhanamoti Muduli of Mundipadar village under Kotpad Tehsil, was found dead close to the railway tracks near Kusumi village in the district on June 21. Since then, the district police had been on a man hunt to nab the culprits.

Later, the cops found involvement of Dhanamoti's father, brother and three other relatives behind the double murder.

Speaking to the media, Koraput SP KV Singh said, "Prima facie, it seems like an honour killing case. We have arrested five persons in connection with the incident, including the woman's father and brother; all will be court forwarded today. We will also try to tag it as a 'Red Flag' case."

Singh also informed that the weapon used for the murder has been seized and the chargesheet related to the case will be submitted soon.
