Balasore: People often suffer due to stray cattle on roads but the roaming of a bull on the Balasore road has helped police nab illegal liquor traders and seize more than 400 litres of liquor.

On Sunday, the officials of Soro Excise department seized more than 400 litres of liquor being smuggled by three youths in three bikes after one of the vehicles met with an accident near Sahaspur village under Khantapada Police limits in Balasore district.

As per reports, the three youths were travelling with the liquor consignment in their bikes from Balasore to Dhamra. However, one of the youths hit a bull near Sahaspur and skidded off the road.

Following the mishap, the locals who were present at the spot found the three youths with the huge cache of liquor and questioned them. When the trio failed to give satisfactory answers, the locals thrashed them and informed the excise department.

Though a youth somehow managed to flee the spot, the other two were handed over to the excise officials. The Soro Excise sleuths also seized the liquor consignment.
Soro police and Excise officials couldn’t be contacted to speak on the matter.
