Keonjhar: Throwing open challenge to the police department, dacoits went on a loot rampage in Keonjhar late last night.

As per reports, armed miscreants looted gold ornaments and cash from the house of a couple at gun point in Tikarpada village under Sadar Police Station on Saturday.

Sources said, around eight miscreants with guns barged into the house of one Narendra Behera at around 9 PM. On being opposed by Behera’s wife, the dacoits brandished guns on the couple and looted all the valuables from the house.

Later, they also took away the bike parked outside the house before fleeing the spot. Sadar Police rushed to the spot after getting information and started investigation.

In another loot incident from Barbil area of the district yesterday, a transport company employee (Satyananda Rout) was allegedly attacked with sharp weapons and looted Rs 4 lakh from him.

As per allegations, Rout was inside the premises of Shree Jagannath Metallic Company premises when a local youth identified as Giridhari Sharma attacked him with an iron rod and looted the money from him.

Rout, who received critical injuries in his head and leg in the attack, was admitted to Barbil Hospital for treatment. Meanwhile, police investigation is on in connection with the incident.
