Koraput: The drugs mafia in Odisha is trying new tricks to cock a snook at police. This was evident after Koraput Police seized 469 kg ganja (dry cannabis) which was being transported in an ambulance from Baipariguda to Borigumma area.

Surprisingly, the ambulance did not have any registration plate which raised the suspicion of police patrolling team. Four persons including two from Uttar Pradesh have been arrested in this connection.

In another incident, Jeypore Police seized 126 kg ganja from a car and arrested four persons in this connection. Similarly, two persons were arrested while peddling ganja on a motorcycle at Kota Ghat area of the district.

“We have seized over 600 kgs of ganja and arrested 10 persons. Out of the accused, two hail from Uttar Pradesh and two from New Delhi. We have launched a probe,” said Jeypore SDPO, Sagarika Nath.
