Bhubaneswar: Apart from a well organised crime syndicate, arrested gangster Syed Usman Ali alias Tito was also behind a major illegal cattle trafficking racket that has its roots spread to Bangladesh, revealed senior officials of the special task force (STF) of the Odisha Crime Branch.

The links were exposed after the STF arrested gangster Tito’s two aides—Batkrishna Pani (45) aka Batu and Saro Pati (31) today.

“Today, we have arrested two persons and investigation is on,” said STF DIG, Himanshu Lal.

STF SP Satyajeet Naik informed that both the accused were actively involved in the illegal cattle transportation racket in Odisha.

“Batu was the operating an illegal cattle trafficking network of gangster Tito. As per information, cattle were smuggled to Bangladesh via Kolkata and Tripura. Further investigation in this connection is underway,” said Naik.

One pistol and four luxury cars along with a bike were seized from the possession of Batu who was nabbed from Kalinga Vihar area in Bhubaneswar. Both Batu and Saroj have been arrested for their alleged involvement in terrorizing a contractor in Rajnagar of Kendrapara.
