Four arrested in Berhampur for abducting youth over 'eve-teasing'

Berhampur: Police on Tuesday arrested four persons on charges of kidnapping a youth from near a hotel in Berhampur reportedly following an eve teasing incident. A video showing the entire kidnapping episode has also gone viral on various social media platforms.

As per reports, one Suresh Sahoo and his associates had abducted Papu Pradhan of Adaba area in Ganjam district from near a hotel in Berhampur. However, the abductees later released Pradhan after threatening him.

Subsequently, Pradhan filed a written complaint at Baidyanathpur Police Station and an investigation was launched by the cops after registering a case (114/19) under IPC.

During police interrogation, Suresh revealed that Pradhan used to pass lewd remarks on a girl who happens to be his relative. In order to teach Pradhan a lesson, they abducted him, he said.

However, Suresh and his three associates were court forwarded after interrogation.
